Clipper is now taking the next logical step in its digital roadmap by integrating direct ordering through Lula Direct.

Clipper Petroleum Expands Lula Commerce Partnership to Launch First-Party Online Ordering

Philadelphia, PA (November 25, 2025)Clipper Petroleum Inc. today announced a significant digital evolution in its consumer offering: the launch of its first-party online ordering service via Lula Commerce’s Lula Direct platform.

Having successfully leveraged Lula Commerce’s third-party delivery aggregation and managed services to streamline online orders and expand reach, Clipper is now taking the next logical step by integrating direct ordering through Lula Direct. This extension enables Clipper to bring its full store menu to customers via its branded digital channel, including convenience items, fresh-food offerings, and tobacco products.

“Clipper Petroleum is exactly the kind of forward-looking convenience brand Lula Commerce was built for,” said Adit Gupta, Co-founder and CEO at Lula Commerce. “They already trust us to power their third-party delivery operations. By adding Lula Direct we are enabling Clipper to own the channel end-to-end, improve margins, offer more SKUs and elevate brand experience, all without adding headcount to manage it.”

Founded in 1933 and now operating 23 convenience stores alongside a broad wholesale fuel business across the Southeast, Clipper has been steadily expanding its digital footprint over the past year. The company recently introduced its Clipper Rewards mobile app to strengthen customer engagement through digital loyalty, exclusive in-app deals and fuel savings. These efforts reflect a clear investment in modern convenience retail and set the stage for bringing fully branded first-party ordering to its digital ecosystem.

As consumer behavior increasingly shifts online, convenience retailers must meet customers where they are. Clipper Petroleum’s decision to build its first-party ordering channel with Lula Commerce accomplishes three key goals:

  • Control & margin improvement: A first-party channel means Clipper captures full transaction value and owns the customer relationship rather than channeling through intermediaries.
  • Consistency in experience: Customers engaging through Clipper’s branded app or website will receive the same care and quality they expect in-store, including full menu and tobacco purchase options under license.
  • Scalable digital operations without adding headcount: Lula Commerce’s managed-services model allows Clipper to deploy new SKUs (including tobacco), maintain compliance and age-verification workflows, and manage delivery or pickup logistics from the same central hub where they currently manage third-party orders.
