Lula Signal turns a convenience retailer's own sales data into a ranked list of profit-making moves

Lula Commerce Launches Lula Signal, Helping C-Stores Turn Data Into Dollars

Philadelphia, PA (October 27, 2026) — Lula Commerce, the digital commerce platform transforming convenience retail, today announced the launch of Lula Signal, a business intelligence product that tells convenience retailers what to do, not just what happened. Signal is available now, following a preview with retailers at the NACS Show in Las Vegas earlier this month.

Most retail analytics tools wait to be asked a question. With dozens of stores and thousands of items, an operator has to already suspect a problem before going looking for it. It drains a little every day: empty shelves that never register as a lost sale, prices leaving margin on the table, cash tied up in stock that isn't moving.

Signal works the other way around. It reads the sales data a retailer already generates, runs every item in every store, and pushes back a ranked list of the highest-value actions to take that week written in plain language with a dollar figure attached.

At launch, Signal delivers:

  • Stockout prevention — forecasts demand item by item and flags restocks before the shelf goes empty, including items a retailer's own system still shows as in stock
  • Pricing recommendations — elasticity-aware price moves that weigh the margin gained against the units given up, so a change only surfaces when it nets out ahead
  • Inventory optimization — sales pace, weeks of supply and turn by store, putting a date behind "reorder now"
  • Outcome tracking — every action scored on realized versus expected dollars, so the value is measured rather than asserted

Every recommendation shows its reasoning, its supporting evidence, and a confidence rating. When the evidence is thin, Signal says so instead of guessing. Before a retailer sees a single recommendation, the engine is tested against that retailer's own history to score how accurate its calls would have been.

"We used to spend hours digging through data to figure out why certain categories were underperforming," said Chris Mathias, Operations Manager at Sweet Pea's. "Signal takes the burden off our teams to find the problems, and instead just hands them the solutions.”

Signal also works independently of a retailer's delivery footprint. Stores do not need to be selling on DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or a branded Lula Direct storefront to use it.

"The retail industry doesn't need another dashboard full of charts to interpret," said Tom Falzani, Co-founder and CPO at Lula Commerce. "We built Signal to do the analytical heavy lifting and simply tell operators which actions to take. It’s the perfect complement to our digital ordering products, ensuring that the stores fulfilling those orders are optimized down to the item level.”
