Theme: Lula Signal is live, plus sharper controls across Lula Direct

October 2026 Product Update

October brought the launch of Lula Signal, a new product that tells convenience retailers what to do with their data, not just what happened. Lula Direct also got stronger store-by-store guardrails for chains, now follows your Store Manager menu hours and Buy X Get Y promotions, and Insights added secondary-brand item reporting.

Here's a tour of what's new.

📈 Lula Signal is live

Most retail analytics tools wait to be asked a question. With dozens of stores and thousands of items, an operator has to already suspect a problem before going looking for it. Signal works the other way around: it reads the sales data a retailer already generates, runs every item in every store, and pushes back a ranked list of the highest-value actions to take that week, in plain language, with a dollar figure attached.

At launch, Signal delivers four things:

  • Stockout prevention. Forecasts demand item by item and flags restocks before the shelf goes empty, including items a retailer's own system still shows as in stock.
  • Pricing recommendations. Elasticity-aware price moves that weigh the margin gained against the units given up, so a change only surfaces when it nets out ahead.
  • Inventory optimization. Sales pace, weeks of supply, and turn by store, putting a date behind "reorder now."
  • Outcome tracking. Every action scored on realized versus expected dollars, so the value is measured rather than asserted.

Every recommendation shows its reasoning, its supporting evidence, and a confidence rating. When the evidence is thin, Signal says so instead of guessing. And before a retailer sees a single recommendation, the engine is tested against that retailer's own history to score how accurate its calls would have been. Signal also works independently of a retailer's delivery footprint, so stores don't need to be selling on DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or a Lula Direct storefront to use it.

Smarter recommendations at launch. Stockout, reorder, and discount suggestions now focus on items retailers can actually source, filtering out distributor-allocated cigarette promo packs that can't be reordered directly.

🛒 Sharper controls on Lula Direct

Three shipments this month give retailers more control over what shoppers see, when they can buy it, and what promotions apply across their online store.

Stronger store-by-store guardrails for chains. Lula Direct can now hide and refuse anything a store hasn't confirmed it carries, even from a shared link or a recommendation, and keeps each store's own shelf price all the way through the cart. These guardrails carried a convenience retailer's multi-state rollout this month and are switched on chain by chain.

Your menu hours, enforced online. Menu hours you set in Store Manager (such as no alcohol sales overnight) are now enforced on your Lula Direct storefront, judged on each store's local clock. Outside those hours, shoppers see when an item will be available instead of an Add button, and orders for it can't go through, now or scheduled.

Buy X Get Y promotions from Store Manager, now on your online store. Buy X Get Y promotions built in Store Manager now publish to Lula Direct, with company-scoped Product and UPC rule matching, a Lula Direct-aware rule picker, and date-range validation at save time. Your Lula team can republish earlier promos to Lula Direct on request.

📊 More in Insights

Item sales by brand. Item, product, and category reports can now be filtered by storefront brand, so a store selling more than one brand sees item sales for each.

Fulfillment-aware item reporting. Item-level reporting now reflects fulfilled and sold units. Unit counts exclude items removed during fulfillment, and item-sales dollars follow the Price Type toggle to align with Sales Performance.

Help built into Payouts and Reconciliation. The Payouts and Reconciliation reports in Store Manager gained a help button, page-by-page guidance, and a data dictionary.

Active cancellations on the Order Issues tile. Active cancellations now appear as a dedicated metric on the Order Issues tile in Insights.

The bigger picture

October was a step-change month for Lula. Signal is live and already handing operators a weekly list of profit-making moves, scored in dollars. Lula Direct is tighter: shoppers can only see and buy what a store actually has, during the hours it's allowed to sell, at the prices and promotions each store has set. And Insights now tells you not just what sold, but which brand sold it. More is in flight for next month.
